640PS producing ATS 2500 GT Supercar revealed

ATS or Automobili Turismo e Sport is an Italian Supercar manufacturer that was operational from 1963-1965 and launched an F1 car in hopes to beat Ferrari. We certainly don’t know if they were successful enough to accomplish the feat, but what we know is that they wrapped their operations within 2 years. And now they are back again with a new Supercar.

The automaker has recently unveiled the ATS 2500 GT supercar ahead of its official launch at the Top Marques to be held in Monte Carlo. This is the first car to be launched after 50 years and has a distinctive “classic and modern” styling on the outside and a “sporty and retro” touch inside the cabin, while the performance is ought to be “worthy of a race car.”

The power to the supercar is delivered by a V8 naturally aspirated engine that generates more than 640ps of power at 10,000 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a manual or a sequential 6-speed gearbox that houses a limited slip differential. ATS claims that the 2500 GT can do 0-100 kmph in a mere 2.9 seconds, while the top speed is more than 340 kmph.

ATS also claims that the two-seater sportscar is made of a carbon fiber monocoque chassis with integrated roll cage for enhanced safety. To reduce the weight, the GT is made of aluminum under body panels while the exterior panels are all carbon.

It is expected to give Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon and Chevrolet Spark a good run for their money. As told before, Renault XBA hatch would have a 800cc, 3-pot petrol motor which would generate maximum power in range of 45-50bhp. The engine would be linked to manual gearbox as well as the current flavour-of-the-season the automated manual transmission (AMT). Being codenamed as BR-8, this same engine would be available with the South American version, albeit with a flex-fuel feature (petrol and ethanol). The company says that it is focusing towards maximum fuel efficiency rather than power as it is basically a city car.

FY 2014-15: Maruti Records 23% Growth in CNG Cars Sales

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced a growth of 23 percent in the sales of factory-fitted CNG vehicles in 2014-15 fiscal at 62,996 units. Maruti, India’s largest automajor, sold a total of 51,215 units of factory-fitted CNG vehicles in FY 2013-14. Currently, the company has 6 multi-fuel (Petrol+CNG) vehicles in its arsenal –  Alto 800, Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga.

“The contribution of CNG vehicles to total sales increased to 5.4 per cent from 4.9 per cent in FY 2013-14,” MSI said in a statement. The company further said that it was the first Company to introduce factory-fitted CNG cars in India in 2010, while the CNG variants of Alto K-10 and Celerio were launched in 2014-15. In cities like Delhi and Mumbai where distribution infrastructure is in place and CNG for automobiles is available, almost 50% sales of Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga are accounted for by the CNG variants. CNG is a cleaner fuel and emits a negligible amount of PM10 and PM2.5. Powered by the acclaimed Intelligent Gas Port Injection (i-GPi) technology, MSIL’s CNG vehicles deliver the advantage of best in class fuel efficiency, besides safety, reliability and performance.

The i-GPI works on Dual-ECU (Engine Control Unit) technology. This highly reliable system delivers accurate amount of gas to the engine thus ensuring improved and consistent performance under various driving conditions. The i-GPI technology uses separate injectors for each cylinder. Based on inputs from the ECU, optimum CNG quantity is injected to the engine through gas ports. The quantity of CNG required for different driving conditions is controlled by the dedicated ECU, leading to more efficient fuel usage.

India-Bound 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Spied

Mitsubishi Motors is still looking for success in both the global and local market. While they created a successful and a substantive name in the SUV market when they launched the Pajero in the Indian markets, their other SUV ventures, including the Outlander and Montero failed, which forced the Japanese manufacturer to concentrate only on one product – the Pajero.

Selling in the majority of markets as the Pajero Sport, a heavily camouflaged prototype of the same has been spied recently by our friends at the Worldcarfans. Slated to be launched next year, the Pajero Sport facelift will be based on the Triton/L200 and will be more aggressive in design as compared to the current Pajero which has started looking dated. One can easily spot more angular surfaces as compared to current boxy design.

We believe that like the chassis, the engine will also be borrowed from the L200 which is powered by a 2.4-liter turbo-diesel engine capable of producing 154hp power and 380 Nm of torque. But if based on the Triton, the Pajero can get a 2.4 litre petrol unit (which we hardly believe could make its way in India) along with a trio of turbo-diesel motors with power producing capacity upto 181hp and 430 Nm. The power will be sent to the wheels via a 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox along with an option for 6 speed manual gearbox.

The big buff SUV is expected to make a global debut at the Frankfurt Motorshow slated to start in September 2015, while the sale can commence in the as early as 2016.

Guide on How to Choose a New Car Number Plate

In today’s era, a car comes in the list of the basic necessities over being a luxury item as it carries great importance for an individual or a family or merely a business. Owning a car is not a big deal anymore. Upon understanding the common man’s demand, manufacturers have come up with cheaper models which will deliver only performance and will help in the automation of their daily life. But owning a car for the first time is not so easy as it sounds. The owner needs to complete the registrations, fill up all the paper works, file insurance and then only he or she can go for the whole. With cars come car plates, which, of course, is a necessary element for every car owner. Nowadays, there are many companies who deal in buying and selling these number plates. Apart from all these physical vendors, one can surely acquire his or her own new number plate from online vendors given that the online sellers have some reputation of trust already.

Deciding factors:

Choosing a number plate with the right mixture of numbers and letters is essential for the mind as it may reflect a precious date or something else through the numbers. Having said that, you should keep in mind the following factors while choosing your number plate-

1. Length: Many people have bad memories. A number plate with a large number seems to look bad or is hard to remember when a two or three digit number plate is available. Thus, the shorter the number, the easier it is to remember. For example, a triple digit number plate like W234 seems more convenient than W234567.

2. Duplicate: Among the most popular car number plates, duplicate numbers are the most commonly sought. Double, triple and quad numbers are in the tender list and hotly contested too.

3. Mirror effect: Mirror effect is basically the effect of getting the image reflected to the other side down the middle line. Symmetry seems to be more attractive and convenient in terms of remembering and also for the readability.

4. Readability: Some numbers and alphabets look like each other when vied from a distance. Like ‘8’ seems to be ‘B” and ‘O’ seems to be ‘0’. Try to avoid these letters and numbers for better readability. In addition, engaging letters with some social connection enhances its value and attractiveness. Acronyms can be used for the number plates as well.

5. Cultural: Some numbers may seem to be unlucky, in bad taste or even considered to be vulgar as well. As the number ’13’ is considered unlucky while ‘4’, which is pronounced like ‘sei’ in Cantonese language, means death. You may want to avoid these numbers.

6. Individual preference: Individual preference matters as well as in such case only you will remember the meaning of the number. You may want to set your Birthdate or anniversary date as your car number as a loving memory. In the end, what matters most is that you like the number that you put on your new car. It is personalized for you and it represents your identity.

Using the above-mentioned factors, you will get a really long list of numbers. But you should choose what fits your identity more and the one which serves your purpose better.

This article has been written by Micheal Chang, and he has tried to gather as much as information for a good reading and to help the car owners to find the right car number plate. For more information, you can contact him through http://www.carplates.com.sg/.

Tips to Help You Tile a Bathroom Floor

By updating the flooring in your bathroom, you can give it a fresh new look. Ceramic floor tiles or porcelain floor tiles are the perfect choice for this type of room. They are strong, water-resistant, durable and unlikely to chip or stain. Laying floor tiles is one remodelling project that, although tricky, is possible to do yourself.

Here is a step-by-step-guide to laying floor tiles in your bathroom:

1) To work out the floor area, measure the rooms at the longest and widest points and then multiply these two numbers together. This will help you to buy the correct amount of tiles. Allow approximately 15% extra for wastage, cutting and breakages.

2) Choose tiles that fit with your décor and make sure they are fit for use on floors and in wet areas.

3) When you are ready to start, turn off the water valve and flush the toilet as this will empty it.

4) Remove the nuts that are keeping the toilet in place as you will need to tile beneath the base of the toilet.

5) Remove the moulding from the current floor and the base of the walls.

6) Find the central point of your room. This is where you will need to tile from. It should also be the central point of any design you are planning with your floor tiles.

7) Lay out your tiles on the bathroom floor in the pattern of your choice. Spend time playing around with different ideas until you find a pattern you like.

8) Mix just enough of the tile adhesive to lay the first few tiles. This sets quickly so do not mix too much in one go.

9) Using the flat edge of a trowel, spread some tile adhesive onto the bathroom floor.

10) Using the pointed end of the trowel, create ridges in the tile adhesive.

11) Lay the tiles on the tile adhesive and lightly press down.

12) Use a vinyl spacer between each floor tile.

13) Mix more tile adhesive and continue tiling the floor by repeating the previous four steps.

14) Check that the tiles are laid evenly using a level. You will need to check the level repeatedly in different areas of the bathroom. Uneven tiles do not look good and can lead to water pooling in the room.

15) When you get to the edges of the room, you may need to cut the tiles to size using a tile-cutter.

16) Using a rubber grout float, push the grout in the spaces between the tiles.

17) Holding the float at an angle of 45 degrees, remove any excess grout from the tiles.

18) Once the grout has dried, remove any further excess using a damp cloth.

19) Wait a few days to give the grout and mortar some time to set, then apply a sealer.

If these steps are followed carefully, you should be able to achieve a fantastic new bathroom floor that will create a whole new look in your bathroom. Ceramic floor tiles or porcelain floor tiles are the perfect choice for a stunning and practical floor that will be the envy of any visitors to your home.

How Do You Use Maxtrax?

Maxtrax is a brilliant way of recovering a stuck four wheel drive quickly, safely and easily. I’ve seen far too many recoveries that could have gone wrong to recommend using alternatives. Maxtrax is a form of sand ladders, which are put underneath the vehicles tyres to give additional traction. They are made out of a special engineered plastic which is UV resistant and extremely strong.

If you are stuck in sand, simply remove them from their storage location (a lot of people mount them on roof racks with the supplied mounts), dig some of the sand out of the way and put them as far under the wheels as possible. Maxtrax have the ability to be used as a shovel, making life very easy. Once you have a pair (make sure they are used on the same axle or you will get crossed up) under the wheels, gently accelerate until the vehicle grabs the Maxtrax and goes forward. These can be used in forward or reverse motions, and if you have a second set can be used together (1 on each wheel).

There are a number of alternatives to Maxtrax, but you get what you pay for. In mud, Maxtrax also works exceptionally well. Simply move a bit of the mud out of the way (or just jam them under the tyres) and you are set to go. The advantage of storing these on top of your vehicles is that when they are dirty, you don’t have to put them in your car!

Maxtrax come in a number of colours, and can be mounted on the rear tyre, roof racks or inside the vehicle. If you have a dual cab ute its often easy to mount them up against the canopy. If you are going to use the conventional methods of recovering a vehicle (with a snatch strap, tow rope or winch) make sure you always think twice about your safety.

When recovering a stuck vehicle, there are a number of things that can break, creating fast flying object. Snatch straps in particular will take anything they are attached to and shoot it through the air faster than you can see. Dampeners are vital, as they limit how far the strap or cable will go through the air. The advantage of Maxtrax though, is the fact that you don’t have to worry about something breaking or going wrong. You are guaranteed a safe, quick and easy recovery!

Maxtrax are a type of Sand Ladder and are exceptional off road. Find out more about the Maxtrax value here.
